Decomposed Granite & Rock
Decomposed granite and decorative rock cover the ground in nearly every desert yard. A proper layer holds soil in place, reduces dust, and, with a pre-emergent beneath it, helps keep weeds from establishing between plants.
Left alone, that layer thins. Foot traffic, wind, and summer storms move the material, so the crew tops off thin spots as they appear, before bare ground starts to show.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
Decomposed granite and rock are a desert yard's working ground cover. We top, grade, and refresh them for homes across the Foothills, Oro Valley, and Marana. Call 520-663-3533.
Ground cover does real work in a desert yard. Decomposed granite compacts into a firm surface that holds soil on a slope and keeps fines from washing toward the street. A consistent depth shades the ground, holds moisture for nearby roots, and covers the bare, sunlit soil that weed seeds need to germinate. A pre-emergent applied below the surface strengthens that suppression.
Because rock and granite shift and settle, they need tending rather than a single pour. Folding that care into the recurring plan keeps the whole surface even and intact through the year.
Some properties need more than a touch-up. We lay fresh decomposed granite over tired or compacted ground, set decorative rock where you want contrast or coarser texture, and place riprap in washes to slow runoff and control erosion where water channels through. These larger jobs are scoped and scheduled separately from routine visits.
Material choice matters as much as installation. Quarter-inch-minus granite compacts into the solid, foot-friendly surface most homeowners want along paths, while larger decorative rock holds its place on slopes and in drainage runs, where heavier stone resists washing out. We help you weigh size, color, and how each option behaves on your grade, so a Saguaro Ranch hillside or a Finisterra courtyard gets material suited to it. A consistent crew on the property is what makes the thin spots easy to catch, and the full arrangement is described in how our maintenance plans work.
Whether you need ongoing top-offs or a full granite refresh, the place to start is your service schedule. Call 520-663-3533 to add decomposed granite and rock care to your plan or to price a larger install.
