Tree & Shrub Trimming
Routine tree and shrub trimming keeps desert plantings healthy, safe, and in good form before overgrowth becomes a problem. A mesquite left unattended begins to lean over the drive, and shrubs grow into the walks and windows.
For homes in Oro Valley and the gated streets of Stone Canyon, we prune on a set rotation so nothing on the property gets ahead of you.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
Routine desert tree and shrub pruning: canopies lifted for monsoon wind, deadwood and suckers cleared, limbs kept off the roof and walkways. Call 520-663-3533.
This is maintenance pruning rather than arborist work. We do not take down large trees or remove a dead palo verde at the trunk. We keep the trees and shrubs already established on the property healthy and well shaped, working anything within reach of the ground, generally to twelve or fifteen feet.
Desert plants each have a natural form, and good pruning follows it. We shape by hand with pruners and loppers rather than shearing everything into rounded hedges, which stresses the plant and forces weak outer growth. The exception is a deliberate formal hedge or clipped border, which we shear because that is the look you have chosen.
Summer storms are hard on top-heavy trees. We lift and thin canopies so wind passes through rather than catching the crown, which is how mature mesquites are split or uprooted in the monsoon. Thinning also lets light reach the plantings beneath and keeps air moving through the interior. Because the same crew returns to the property, they already know which mesquite crowds the drive and which oleander you keep as a privacy screen.
A good portion of trimming is selective removal. On a typical visit the crew takes out:
Palms are tended as well, with spent fronds and seed stalks removed so they look groomed rather than ragged.
Because the work runs on a recurring plan, the team shaping your trees this season is the one that shaped them last season, so the cuts stay consistent year over year. For how the recurring service is structured, see how our maintenance plans work.
To have your trees and shrubs assessed before the monsoon, call 520-663-3533 and we will walk the property and set a trimming rotation.
