Plant Health Care
Healthy desert plantings depend on more than water. Pale, yellowing foliage, unexplained leaf drop, and scale crusting a sago are soil and pest problems that need specific treatment in this climate.
From the Catalina Foothills out to Ventana Canyon, we keep ornamental and edible plantings healthy in soil and a climate that work against them.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
Feeding and pest care built for alkaline desert soil. We correct chlorosis, treat desert pests early, and keep citrus and specimen plants healthy. Call 520-663-3533.
Native soil here is alkaline, rocky, and low in organic matter, so plants often cannot draw the nutrients they need even when those nutrients are present. High pH locks up iron in particular, and the result is chlorosis, the yellowing, green-veined foliage seen across the region. We correct it directly.
The pests that affect Sonoran landscapes are a particular group. We treat the soft-bodied feeders that quietly weaken a plant, including aphids, scale, whiteflies, and mealybugs, and we monitor for the more serious threats: agave snout weevils that hollow an agave from the core, and palo verde root borers that emerge in summer. Because the same crew sees each plant over time, they catch the first few aphids before a branch dies back, instead of meeting an infestation after it has taken hold.
Treatment depends on the plant. On anything edible, including citrus, herbs, and vegetable beds, we use safe and natural products. On purely ornamental plantings, where nothing reaches the table, we can use commercial-grade controls that resolve a problem more quickly.
A struggling plant is not always diseased. Before treating, we evaluate the plant, then its irrigation, sun exposure, and placement, because a yellowing shrub is often a watering or siting issue rather than a pest or nutrient one. Once a treatment is in place, we continue to monitor on later visits to confirm the plant is recovering.
For the cadence behind that monitoring, see how our maintenance plans work.
If you are seeing yellowing leaves or pests taking hold, call 520-663-3533 and we will assess your plantings and prepare a care plan.
